Name of the Labs. Description
Basic Circuits and Measurements Lab
Experiments on fundamental circuit laws and measurement principles are the main purpose of this lab. The experiments are done to support the theoretical background of the related subjects. The lab is equipped with required apparatus.
Electronics Lab
Experiments related to the properties of analog-digital electronic circuit elements are performed in this lab. The experiments are divided into two parts as Electronics Lab I and Electronics Lab II. Each part is given during different terms to support the theoretical aspects thought in classroom. The lab has the required equipment and set-ups.
Logic Circuits and Microcomputers Lab
The topics covered in courses related to Logic circuits and microcomputers are tested practically in this lab. Students use the hardware in the lab to perform the tests.
Communications Lab
Experiments on all topics related to communication systems are done in this lab. TV-Video, analog-digital signal processing, and image processing are some these topics covered in this lab. The required set-ups and measurement hardware are available in the lab. A 250 audiance capacity TV studio is also located near the lab.
Microwaves and Antennas Lab The applications of Microwave and antennas are shown and practiced in this lab. Various microwave experiment set-ups, measurement equipment, oscillators, transmission lines and antennas are available in the lab.
Computer Software Lab Different computers compatible with AT and PC based hardware are used in the lab. Computer software programs developed to solve various engineering problems are tested in this lab. Besides, the software designed for various courses are tested in this lab. The computers are enabled to have connectivity to all other computers in the department and all over the world through a local area network and internet. A server located in the department is operated by the department's stuff. Students also use this lab to study their computer related assignments, to write reports, and simulate their programs.
Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drive Systems Lab
This lab contains experiments to support the courses on electrical machines and power systems. The lab has been divided into three parts. Transformers, DC motors and generators, Induction machines, asynchronous machines, Asynchronous and synchronous generators are all covered in first part the lab. Power semi-conductor devices and their operating principles are tested in the second part. The third part of the lab is the utilization of the first two parts. Power semi-conductor controlled machines are covered in this part. Speed and torque control of electrical machines are tested using power electronics.
Control Systems and Process Control Lab Automatic control system courses are supported by this lab. P, PI, PID, phase lead/lag and other control actions are tested over speed, position and thermal systems. Microprocessor controlled systems and computer controlled systems are also covered. Process control part of the lab includes automated control system applications in industry. Required equipment is available in the lab.
Power Systems Lab Power system generation, transmission, distribution, and operating principles are covered in this lab. Power system apparatus and components are tested. Protection issues such as power breakers, relaying and grounding are included in the lab experiments. Computer based power system simulators and SCADA systems are introduced.
